The short answer

On a replica Patek Philippe Twenty~4 7300, the bezel decides everything. The stones, the seats, the metal lip around them. If that area looks cheap, the watch is cheap, no matter what the seller says about the movement. Check the bezel first, then the case profile, then the dial and date, and only then the movement. Most buyers do it backward.

What the real 7300 is

The Twenty~4 Automatic ref. 7300/1200A came out in 2018. It was the first automatic Twenty~4, a 36 mm steel watch with 160 diamonds on the bezel, a date at 6 o'clock, and Patek's caliber 324 S C inside. The case is thin for a daily watch, around 9 mm, and the bracelet is integrated. That combination is hard to copy well. A jewelry watch with a mechanical movement is a different build from a dive watch replica, and most factories treat it like the latter.

The bezel is where replicas fail

Real diamonds have a specific kind of brightness. They go dark and light as you turn the watch. Cubic zirconia looks flat and slightly milky, especially indoors. On a good replica, the stones are set in cut seats, evenly spaced, with a clean metal edge. On a bad one, they are glued or pushed into oversized holes, and the gaps are filled with metal or glue. Run a fingernail across the bezel. Stones should sit level. Any rock that catches your nail is set too high. Look at the bezel from the side: the row should be straight, not wavy.

Case and bracelet checks

Measure the thickness. The real 7300 is close to 9 mm. Many replicas come in at 10.5 mm or more, and that extra bulk shows on a small watch. The lugs should be short and curved, and the end links should meet the case with no gap. Wiggle the bracelet. A rattle means poor tolerances. Check the brushing: it should be fine and directional, not coarse. Polished surfaces should be mirrors, and the transition lines should be crisp. The crown is small on the original. Replicas often use a larger crown that is easier to grab but wrong to the eye.

Dial, hands, and the date at 6

The sunburst dial should shift from dark to light as you tilt it. Flat paint is a bad sign. Printing should be sharp under a loupe, especially the brand name and GENEVE. The date window at 6 is a common failure point. The font is often wrong, the window is too wide, or the date sits off-center. Ask for a video of the date flipping. Hands should be thin, polished, and free of burrs. Diamond hour markers should line up with the bezel stones. If one marker is rotated a few degrees, you will see it every time you look down.

Movement and caseback

Most replicas run a Miyota or a Chinese automatic, sometimes with decoration meant to look like the 324 S C. The real movement has Geneva stripes, a gold rotor, and a clean finish. A replica will have shallower engraving and a rotor that sounds loose. Ask for a photo with the caseback off. Check the engravings on the outside too: reference numbers should be correct for the 7300, and a steel watch should not be stamped Au750. The sapphire should be clear, with no blue tint at the edge.

What Swiss replica means in practice

Almost all of these watches are made in China. Swiss is a marketing word in this market, and it does not tell you anything about the stones or the finishing. A $250 to $600 replica can be decent if the bezel is set well. Under $150, expect CZ in glued settings and a thick case. Above $800, ask why. Better stones and better setting can justify it, but a high price alone is not proof.

Questions to ask before you pay

  • Can you send daylight photos of the bezel from three angles?
  • What is the measured case thickness?
  • Is there a video of the date changing?
  • Can you show the movement with the caseback removed?
  • What is the return policy, and can the bracelet be sized?

Bottom line

Buy the bezel, then the case, then the dial. The movement matters, but it is the last 20 percent on a watch like this. A replica 7300 can look convincing across a dinner table if the stones are set well. It will not fool a jeweler with a loupe, and it should not be priced like it will. Keep that in mind and you will avoid the worst of the market.
