A used IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVIII, reference IW327001, sells for about $3,000 to $3,800 on a leather strap. The bracelet version, IW327002, runs about $3,500 to $4,400. Listings at $200 to $400 are not Mark XVIII watches. They are copies. The price gap is the gap in what you get: a movement IWC will service, a case with a serial number, and legal import.

- Case: 40 mm stainless steel, 11 mm thick, lug width 20 mm.

- Dial: black with white numerals, or blue on the Le Petit Prince IW327004. Date at 3 o'clock.
- Crystal: sapphire, anti-reflective coating on both sides.
- Water resistance: 6 bar. Soft-iron inner case for magnetic protection.
- Released 2016. Replaced in 2022 by the Mark XX (IW3282), which has a 120-hour reserve and a 100 m rating.
Parameters to check on any offer
- Reference and serial. The caseback carries both. The serial is 8 digits, no letters.
- Case size. Measure the case without the crown. 40 mm, not 42 mm.
- Movement. Ask for a photo with the caseback off. Caliber 35111 has an IWC rotor and 25 jewels.
- Lug width. 20 mm. A 22 mm strap means the case is a copy.
- Papers. IWC extends its international warranty to 8 years for watches registered with My IWC. Ask for the card and the dealer stamp.
- Price. A $250 Mark XVIII on a site with stock photos is a picture of a watch, not a watch.
Pitfalls
US Customs and Border Protection seizes counterfeit watches at the border. Importing them is prohibited. Trafficking in counterfeit goods carries penalties under 18 U.S.C. 2320, including prison terms and fines. Payment to a replica seller is not recoverable. IWC will not service a copy, and no independent watchmaker can order parts for it.

Prices for the Mark XVIII have held near $3,000 on the strap since the Mark XX launch. A full set with box and papers adds $200 to $400. None of that changes because a listing says best deal.
